As a HubSpot gold partner agency, we want to practice what they preach. After reading an article by HubSpot last week, I was inspired to be a lot more visual in the office.

According to research, "90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text." It would just be stupid to not use images, infographics and video content, wouldn't it?

JAN 2017 UPDATE: We've made it! Six & Flow is delighted to now be a platinum tier HubSpot agency, the second agency in Manchester to earn this prestigious title. We also became the first officially Certified HubSpot Trainer agency in the whole of the UK, and one of only a handful in the world. Read more here.

Using video in the office

We have started to produce video content, because there are so many statistics out there proving that video reaches a lot more people who would rather watch something than read.

Adam gave me and Hazel a lesson on Animoto which is a platform we use to create some of our video content. I'm in the process of creating one at the moment to accompany one of our blogs. It isn't easy, but I know it will become a lot easier once I get the hang of it, and we can't forget HubSpot's statistic: "Posts with videos attract 3 times more inbound links than plain text posts."

We're also trying to get more live videos in the office to share on social media. This could be of anything that's going on in the office. For example, we love it when a dog comes to visit, and you will already know this if you follow us on Twitter or Instagram.

I'm also working to increase the amount of engagement and interaction on the social media accounts we work on. Whether we produce live content or just Instagram stories, HubSpot claims that "40% of people will respond better to visual information than plain text." Again, this is why we are getting into video content at every possible opportunity.

Getting creative in the office

We also thought it would be a good idea to start creating an infographic each week to upload onto Pinterest. This stat from HubSpot actually surprised me a lot: "Pinterest generates more referral traffic for businesses than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined."

To create these infographics I use Canva, which is a simple graphic design platform. Well, they say simple, but there are so many shapes, tools and designs that you can use, I'm only just getting used to it after being introduced to it about three months ago. Hazel is a Canva geek though, and can tell you all about it.

Last week I also had a short session with Adam on Adobe Photoshop. Since we are prospecting more and more clients each week, he taught me how to get a high resolution graphic of a brand's logo that we can use on any campaigns we need to run.

This was really fun, and I'm looking forward to the next time I can use it. I was just amazed by all the tools that you can use, I think my favourite thing was taking the orange colour from Kinder's branding and using it on the Ed Hardy logo. See, that's the kind of cool stuff you can do!

This last one will make you laugh. It was still educational, but we put Anna Wintour's hair on Rich, our MD. That was really fun.
